All you need to know about visionboarding
Have you ever dreamt of something amazing? Perhaps winning the lottery or being whisked off your feet by a new romantic partner. January can be a great time of year to reassess your priorities and allow yourself to dream and if you are ready to make your dreams become a reality, then this article will be for you.
The word is now out on the power of vision-boarding. If you follow the instructions in this article it won’t be long until your friends will be asking you how you managed to make things happen that seem impossible to them!
We use vision-boarding sessions regularly at the retreat to help our guests to re-connect with their dreams and help them become reality.
What is a Vision-board?
A vision board is simply a visual representation or collage of the things that you want to have, be, or do in your life. It is a vision for your life. The purpose of a vision board is to speak to your unconscious mind to activate the law of attraction and to allow the universe to help you.
Vision-boarding is a fun process that can take as long as you want. Once you have completed your vision board place it somewhere private where you will see it every day (eg your bedroom wall). We suggest updating your vision-board once in a while to help express what you want at the time – our vision for the perfect day or life can change over time.
All you need to prepare your vision board is a vision for your life, a selection of high quality magazines, some card (ideally A3 or A2), some scissors and some glue. You can also now find images on the internet which can be printed and cut out too.
How does a vision-board work?
A vision-board is a way of communicating with your unconscious mind. We are often encouraged to set goals consciously – however most of your mental power lies in your unconscious mind. For example we store our capability to walk and talk in our unconscious mind (we don’t need to conscoiusly worry about how to do these things any more). A vision board is a process of communicating what you want to your unconscious mind. The law of attraction confirms that you manifest in your life (or attract into your life) what you focus on. A vision board is a way of helping your conscious and unconscious mind to remain in rapport and focussed on what you want.
Vision boarding works best when we have fun doing it. Your unconscious mind is like a five to seven year old child who loves you very much and wants to give you what you want. Just like a child, the unconscious mind loves pictures and metaphors. Therefore take the opportunity to use pictures and metaphors on your vision board. If you can’t find exactly what you want in the magazine, find something that has the essence of what you want and can symbolise it. For example, if you are looking for a new relationship then maybe pick out pictures of romantic, happy couples and if you want a new home then find something that expresses that new home to you. Be creative and enjoy it.
One thing to ensure is to think of what you want (not what you don’t want). For example, if you have had health problems then find something that represents health (not something that represents fighting your illness).
Get some clarity for your vision
“I want a better life” is a fine goal, but have you given serious thought to exactly what that means? Here is an exercise to imagine exactly what the perfect day may be for you.
Imagine that day is happening – who do you have in your life, where are you, what are you doing. Take a moment to dream now about your perfect day. It is really important to write it down too as this can help tremendously as part of the manifestation process.
What is your vision?
Now take a few moments now to consider the vision for your life. What is it you dream of having, doing and being in your life? Again take a moment to jot down a few notes of what you want for your life. Once you’ve spent some time doing both of these exercises you are ready to start the vision-boarding process.
We do hope this article inspires you to take action and join the many people around the world now creating their own vision-boards! We love to hear your stories of how vision-boarding has helped you transform your life. You can contact us at info@lacrisalidaretreats.com. Happy vision-boarding!

I have just been looking at the new site. Wow you have been busy !!
I will be visiting the new site regularly to help me progress with my Life Coaching which I am starting in the New Year when we move to Yorkshire. My session with you this year was extremely useful – so thank you for that.
Just wanted to add that my first visit to La Crisalida in 2015 was the catalyst for me and it has really been life changing. If it would be useful for you I can write a little piece for you to include on your website.
