top 3 berry smoothie recipes vegan La Crisalida detox Retreats

Smoothies can make a delicious and healthy breakfast, particularly berry smoothies as we make them! Our smoothie recipes contain lots of fruit and vegetables, so you know you are enjoying a nutritionally rich meal in a glass. Our top three berry smoothie recipes shared below are all plant-based, vegan, and are quick and easy to make.

Health benefits of berries

Berries are little pockets of nutrient-dense deliciousness. They are a great source of anti-oxidants, which help to prevent cell damage. Although berries are small they are also high in fibre, which supports your digestive health. They are also low in calories, so make a great base for smoothies if you are interested in losing weight or maintaining a healthy weight.

Smoothie tip: When making a berry smoothie, you can use fresh or frozen berries. Keeping a bag of frozen berries in your freezer means that you can enjoy these smoothies any day of the year. When using frozen berries, remember to take a portion out of the freezer 10 to 15 minutes before you make the smoothie, so that they can soften. In the summer using frozen berries is a great way to create a lovely cool smoothie.

Top 3 Berry smoothie recipes

Each recipe makes 1 large portion

Blueberry bliss smoothie

Handful of blueberries
2 carrots
½ small courgette
1 broccoli floret
½ tbsp ground flaxseed
1 tbsp lemon juice
300 ml non-dairy milk (we love almond milk in this version)

Love my berries smoothie

Handful of blueberries
Handful of raspberries
1 banana
1 stick celery
½ large cucumber
1 tbsp lemon juice
350 ml non-dairy milk

Berry-cinnamon twist smoothie

Large handful mixed berries (frozen is ideal in this recipe)
½ tsp cinnamon (more if you love the flavour)
1 apple (core removed)
Small handful spinach
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/3 avocado
350 ml non-dairy milk

Method for all smoothies

Before making your smoothie, make sure you give all of your ingredients a good wash beneath cold running water. When using apples, cut out the core. Peel the bananas and when using avocado, simply scoop out the flesh. Pop all of the ingredients into your blender and switch it on. Easy!

Remember to wash your blender immediately after making your smoothie – this helps to prevent discolouration of your blender. If you leave little bits of fruit and vegetables in the blender, they become very hard and difficult to wash off, so it’s best to wash your blender before drinking your smoothie.
