Summer blueberry smoothie recipe

blueberry smoothie free recipe from La Crisalida detox retreat Spain

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy berries, like blueberries and raspberries, and this summer blueberry smoothie recipe makes a refreshing (and filling) drink.

Blueberries are little nutritional power-houses, bringing high amounts of anti-oxidants, like vitamin C as well as high amounts of potassium, vitamin K and fibre. At the same time they are low in calories. As well as making a delicious snack, they bring an extra wow factor when added into a smoothie.

Smoothie tip: We add banana into this recipe, but if you prefer, you can swap this for one-third of an avocado.

Blueberry smoothie recipe

Serves: 1

Large handful blueberries
Handful raspberries
1 small banana
1 small courgette
1 large carrot
2 tbsp lemon juice
300 ml non-dairy milk

Wash the blueberries and raspberries beneath cold running water and add them into your blender (or nutri-bullet). Peel the banana, break up into pieces and add into the blender. Wash the courgette and carrot, then cut off the ends and chop into large chunks. Add into your blender with the lemon juice and non-dairy milk. Blend for about 60 seconds, to make a smooth consistency. Pour into a glass.

Wash your blender then drink your smoothie.

Blueberry juice recipe

To make this recipe into a lovely blueberry smoothie, you will need a juicer and a blender (a hand-blender is fine) and the following ingredients:

1 small courgette
2 carrots
1 apple
3 cm unwaxed lemon

Large handful blueberries
Handful raspberries
1 small banana

Wash your fruit and vegetables beneath cold running water. Remove any stickers from the apple and lemon and, if you are using a waxed lemon (or have a lower power juicer), trim off the outer edge. Then juice the courgette, carrots, apple and lemon, allowing the juice to run into a large jug.

Add the blueberries, raspberries and banana into the juice in the jug and blend it using a hand-blender.

Wash your juicer and blender, then drink your juice.
