Detoxifier: cleanse with our new detox juice recipe

Detoxifier - cleanse with our new detox juice recipe

This month we are sharing our recipe for Detoxifier – one of our new detox juices. Here at the retreat, we think that detox is just a fancy word for “cleanse”. Our bodies know how to cleanse, naturally, however, after a period of excess (like Christmas!) your body might need more support with this process. One excellent way to do this, and also to allow your body to cleanse on a regular basis, is to drink a juice, instead of eating food.

The ingredients included in this fabulous detox juice are all listed in our top five favourite vegetables to include in your DIY detox.  Together, they pack a punch of Vitamins A, B and C, potassium, calcium and much more. This juice is naturally low in fat, cholesterol and sodium, so it is a good addition to any regular juice plan and can be enjoyed as part of a healthy weight loss programme.

Cabbage is a great vegetable to eat and juice, as it supports your digestive health. In this recipe, we use white cabbage, but you could swap it for a lovely green Savoy (green leafy cabbage) instead. If you enjoy juicing and drinking cabbage then you might like to try one of our other cabbage juices: Cabbage Digest juice recipe.

Detox juice: Detoxifier

Serves: 1
Calories: 405

3 carrots
3cm white cabbage
1/3 courgette
2cm broccoli stem
Handful spinach
2cm unwaxed lemon
1/3 avocado

Wash your vegetables beneath cold running water, making sure you give the spinach a thorough wash to remove all traces of soil. If you are using an unwaxed lemon, then you can leave the whole of the skin on, otherwise trim off the outer layer, leaving the pith on.

Place the avocado into your blender.

Juice all of the remaining ingredients. Pour the juice into your blender and blitz together with the avocado for 30-60 seconds, so that the juice becomes smooth and creamy. Pour into a glass and enjoy.

Remember to wash your juicer and blender first, before drinking your detox juice. This helps to look after your juicer. If you leave the juicer, all the little veggie bits will start to turn solid and stick to it, which makes it a real pain to wash!

More sweetness? Add fruit to your juice

We love this juice as it is, pure vegetable. However, if you find it too savoury or challenging to drink, then add in one apple (you could miss out the courgette). Apples still help with your detox and are also good for digestive health.
