Create vibrant health with this lovely berry juice recipe

Our featured juice this month is called Vibrant Health, which is delightful berry juice recipe. I gave it this name because as well as being high in antioxidants and vitamins, it is also a lovely bright colour!

You can include any type of berry in this recipe – we love a combination of strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. Berries do not produce much liquid when put through your juicer, so it is always better to blend them into your juice (sort of like a smoothie). You can use frozen or fresh berries in this recipe. At home, I usually have a supply of frozen berries in my freezer, just for this purpose. If you use frozen berries, remember to get them out of the freezer 10 minutes before you want to drink your juice, to allow them to soften.

Quick tip! In the summer using frozen berries is a great way to cool down your juice.

Berries might be small but they are nutritional powerhouses! They are a fabulous source of anti-oxidants. (Antioxidants have the job of sorting out those pesky free radicals – free radicals cause our cells to break down and accelerates the aging process. Free radicals are produced during the natural bodily processes of keeping your body healthy and in balance. Increasing your intake of anti-oxidant rich foods helps to support your immune system, the body´s natural process for dealing with free radicals).

Berries are also high in fibre, helping to keep your digestive tract in good health. They are said to help prevent against heart disease, diabetes and stroke. As berries are high in water and low in fat, they are great to include in your diet on a regular basis – add to your breakfast, enjoy as a snack, or add into your juice like we have done here.

Vibrant health: berry juice recipe

Serves: 1

2 apples
½ red pepper
½ pepino (1/2 a small cucumber)
2cm unwaxed lemon
Handful of berries (fresh or frozen)


Wash the apples, red pepper and cucumber beneath cold running water. If you have an unwaxed lemon, leave the skin on – if you have a waxed lemon remember to remove the top layer of the skin. Juice these ingredients, letting the juice run into a large measuring jug.

Add the berries into the measuring jug and blend (using a hand blender) for 30 – 60 seconds, until you get a lovely smooth consistency. You should see the colour start to change!

Wash your juicer and then enjoy your juice!

Increase your vegetables: berry juice option

If you prefer not to have so much fruit in your juice, you can swap the apples for a courgette, 3 large carrots or 2 carrots and the other ½ of the cucumber.
